Elle y joue aussi de couches de papiers, de soie, calque ou glacé : texte sur et sous "peau" transparente et fragile. Cette oeuvre, sa première, annonce un fil rouge, le langage, et l'écriture comme matériau: sens élastique, syllabes rythmiques, textes plastiques. Le langage se tenant entre inexistant et existant – nommer rend réel, même "rien" –, Saunois s'intéresse à ce point de bascule entre apparition et disparition des choses. Camille Ramanana Rahary *** Située au croisement de l’écriture et des arts plastiques, ma pratique s’inscrit dans une recherche sur le langage, sa matérialité, ses possibles traductions dans des formes, et son influence – réciproque – sur le réel. En résulte un travail constitué de sculptures, installations, vidéos, pièces sonores, performances ou éditions. S’inscrivant dans une relecture des principes de l’art conceptuel, des formes d’écriture pouvant s’apparenter à une certaine poésie contemporaine se frottent à un langage plastique, propre aux arts visuels. Souvent discrets, ténus, et d’une apparente simplicité, mes travaux invitent à une certaine qualité d’attention. Leur concision et sobriété plastique se trouve sans cesse contrecarrée par une ironie joueuse, un humour dans lequel se condensent quelques strates ultérieures – poésie latente, sur la brèche toujours, entre dérisoire et existentiel. Et des tautologies, des pièces tournant avec dérision en boucle, indéfiniment, soulèvent en creux la question de leur finitude. Il s’agit de déplacer légèrement la ligne d’articulation que le langage entretient avec la réalité, pointer ces moments où le monde réel et le monde représenté ne coïncident plus – ouvrant une faille minuscule où l’on peut circuler de l’un à l’autre, où des temporalités différentes entrent en friction ; des lieux d’indécidabilité entre trivial et extraordinaire, virtuel et existant – légers écarts porteurs d’humour, par l’incongruité qu’ils engendrent. Scruter l’infime, le presque rien, et soulever la question de l’éphémère, de la disparition et de la persistance des choses – au travers de leur inévitable transformation. ° L’écriture comme matériau, car elle est précisément à cet endroit, à la lisière, ce point de bascule entre le matériel et l’immatériel, entre le virtuel (« ce qui est en puissance », les potentiels) et « ce qui advient », ce qui existe, dans la réalité. ° La trace – à la fois témoignages de gestes, d’événements passés, et objets chargés de potentiels, ouverts sur d’ultérieurs possibles –, la trace donc, pour dire ces paradoxes de présences absentes, présenter des objets dérisoires soulevant avec humour des questions trop grandes pour eux, donner à voir des précipités de temps, suspendre la condition de fugacité d’un objet ou d’un événement, se placer entre le pérenne et le « sur le point de disparaître ». &nbsp; &nbsp; At the boundaries of writing and fine arts, my practice is a form of research on language, its materiality, its possible translations into forms, and its influence – reciprocal – on reality. The results of my research take on various media, comprising sculptures, installations, videos, sound pieces, editions or performances. My work offers a re-reading of the principles of conceptual art, bringing forms of writing often associated with contemporary poetry into contact with the visual arts, emphasising the plastic qualities of language. Often of discreet and modest appearance, the works invite a certain sort of attentiveness. Their deceptive simplicity is continuously thwarted by a playful irony – latent poetry, on the verge always, between derisory and existential. While slightly shifting the articulation point between the language and the reality to which it refers, I try to point out moments in which reality and its representation no longer coincide – opening up tiny gaps which reveal a certain humour by the incongruities they engender. The overlapping of temporalities allows me to materialise the paradoxes of presences which are absent, of ephemeralities which last indefinitely; to blur the perception of an object with its representation, between the virtual and the actual. In considering the minuscule, the almost nothing, the border between the ordinary and the extraordinary seems to oscillate. °Writing as a physical material, because it is precisely at the border between the virtual and that which exists, the hinge between that which potentially is and the real. ° Traces, to reveal paradoxes of absent presences, to show the accumulation of time, to suspend the ephemeral nature of an object or an event, to be situated between longevity and being ‘on the verge of disappearance’. *** Plll…ppp Uiiishhhhh. Tonk tong tank. Le son, vivace, prégnant, qui s’insinue dans les têtes, celui de la pluie est presque là. Presque, car il ne s’agit pas de cette vibration sonore, tambourinante et rassurante que l’on entrevoit dehors, mais celle plus sourde et intime du souvenir et de l’idée et de la représentation et de l’effacement de la pluie, posée au mur, qui s’estompe jusqu’au noir. Sans titre (une fois tombée, la pluie) appelle un torrent de mots, de rythmes, de roulements issus d’un texte de du poète Christophe Tarkos. Un espace minimal, celui de l’invention du langage et de l’image invisible-visible convoquée soudain s’ouvre à nous. Cette oeuvre de Flore Saunois comme un chuintement murmuré qui laisse place au fracas de la pluie, a la puissance de ce qui n’éclate pas mais qui grandit pour occuper tout l’espace mental. Car dans cette oeuvre, c’est à la fois un torrent poétique de mots de sons et de rythmes, et une forme kinesthésique où la lettre devient image, son et mouvement. Une histoire pleine d’imaginaire, dans lequel le monde s’efface, ne laissant là qu’une trace de ce qui a pu advenir et la promesse de ce qui pourrait être. [...] Alors les pas me guident jusqu’à ce voyage immobile auquel m’invite le casque accroché au fond de la salle. Un murmure, un phrasé doux, martelé, rythmique, dévidant des portions de bitume, de vie, d’envies, de silences. La musicalité pierreuse, tremblotante et incertaine qui accompagne le récit nous emmène au bout de nos rêves et de nos hésitations. Combien de km/h demande Flore Saunois. Un goût d’enfance mi-curieuse, mi-agacée perce sous cette question. De brisures en certitudes, de contraintes en envolées, se déploient en nous, dans notre espace mental, des infinités de voyages et des potentialités d’histoires. Isolé et bercé par cette voix fluette mais persuasive, l’esprit s’invite sur ces chemins de la découverte de ce voyage souterrain et intérieur. Construit sur le parcours du chantier du Boulevard Urbain sud à Marseille, l’oeuvre nous entraîne loin de l’imaginaire des travaux de terrassement mais vers une fiction colorée de voyages, de danse des mots, comme si par le truchement du verbe et du son, Flore Saunois creusait, rabotait, raturait la forme bruyante et normée du chantier pour le transformer en clignotement hypnotique, en suavité ensoleillée, en route des vacances, en invention sensuelle et sémantique. C’est à un jeu sur les mots, les maux des mots qu’elle s’active. Ici les sens sont différents, comme si un monde inouï passait la tête par dessus notre épaule, chamboulant dans un charivari de formes et d’images les projections de la matière des sons et de la fange des vocabulaires. in a stack of plain paper. A footnote is printed on each sheet:&nbsp; "I would have liked to speak of erosion,&nbsp; &nbsp; Ongoing performance."I also saw the work itself as a footnote or legend with respect to the installation as a whole - a performative caption, or a sculptural footnote.Visitors were invited to take a piece of paper from the pile and thus participate in making it slowly, and almost imperceptibly, diminish. I like the idea that through this very simple gesture (taking with them - and so disseminating - the piece) they actually activate, and are part of, this 'ongoing performance' ... leading to the very real 'erosion' of the stack over time. And so, in a way, enacting it. ...‘Something wished for’, and yet ‘something realised’.[...]The apparent failure conveyed by expressions like 'I would have liked to', and 'I wish I had' - such as regretting something that may not have happened, or that wasn’t achievable - is in fact paradoxically subverted. The failure fails. First on an intrinsic level, because as soon as a phrase is written or pronounced, it takes on a form of existence. Moreover, the context in which I situate these words somehow makes them operational.
